When will the accommodation be ready for occupancy?

Your room or self catering apartment will be ready for occupancy at 14.00 hours on the day of your arrival.

Keys are available from the Reception area in the Tackle Shop from 12.00 hours to 14.00 hours.

If you do not pick your keys up by 14.00 hours, Your keys will be available in the bar from 18.30 hours to 23.00 hours.

Is every thing provided in the self catering units?

You need to bring your personal towels and tea towels plus any consumables.

If you forget your towels (a hand and a bath towel) can be hired out from Clawford at £5.00 per week.

Bed linen is provided. 

Electricity is not included in the hire charges. Each unit has a £1 coin operated meter. On the day of arrival the electricity meter will be in  credit. Please reciprocate on the day of your departure.

When do we need to vacate the accommodation?

Your  room or self catering apartment must be vacated by 10.00 hours on the day of your departure.

If you do not return your key be 10.00 hours, you will be charged an extra days accommodation.

The keys must be returned to the Reception area in the Tackle shop before 10.00 hours.

12.00 hours (Noon).

Is there a minimum number of nights we can book accommodation?

Yes. A minimum of two consecutive nights are required for B&B.

During Bank Holidays, a minimum of three consecutive nights are required.

Yes. During low season a minimum of 3 consecutive nights are required for S/C apartments.

Yes. During the high season a minimum of 7 consecutive nights are required for S/C apartments.

Sorry, Dogs or any other pets are NOT allowed at Clawford.

When does the Bar and Restaurant Open?

Bar  is open from 18.30 hours to 23.00 hours during the evenings. The bar will be opened on request during  lunchtimes.

The restaurant is open throughout the week between 18.30 and 20.30 hours.

When is last orders in the Bar and restaurant?

Last orders in the restaurant is 21.00 hours.

Last orders in the Bar is 23.00 hours.

Please, remember. We cannot allow anglers to arrive in the restaurant or bar straight from the lake side!! It often offends other residents. Please shower and change!!

When is breakfast served?

A full English breakfast with Fruit Juice, Cereal, Tea and Toast, Jam or Marmalade is served between 08.00 hours and 09.00 hours in the breakfast room.

All  Clawford residents can use the breakfast facilities.

Self Catering residents can order breakfasts the night before, at a cost of £5.00 per person.

Breakfasts ordered by the Self Catering residents must be paid for each morning before leaving the breakfast room.

Can we pay our bar and restaurant bill at the end of our stay?

Sorry, No. Please settle your bill after ordering each round in the Bar and after each meal in the restaurant.

We do not run tabs!

Is the restaurant open for lunches?

Sorry, No. We do not open the restaurant at lunch times.

Packed lunches can be provided if ordered the night before.

Snacks can be obtained from the Tackle shop during opening times.

Can we smoke in the bar?

SORRY NO. From January 1st. 2007 smoking will no longer be allowed in the Bar or any other room in the visitors center..

The visitors center will be entirely NO SMOKING.. This still includes the Restaurant, Lounge and all accommodation.

A covered smoking area will be provided in the porch when entering the Bar and on the Patio outside the breakfast room.

What is the cost of a day ticket?

Day tickets are available on the Pole Fishing Lakes only at a cost of £7 per rod per person.

Sorry. We do not have day tickets on the main lakes.

During the busy season (between April and October), fishing on the fourteen main lakes are for Residents only. 

However, local Matches are allowed on JR's Lake only, between October and April.

A day ticket will cost ten pounds for two rods.

Are we restricted to the times we can fish?

All lakes to the front of the accommodation can be fished from dawn to dusk, Night fishing is not allowed on the lakes to the front of the accommodation.

The lakes which are not in front of the accommodation can be fished 24 hours a day.

Providing you obey the Clawford Rules and Codes of Conduct.

Are we restricted to the numbers of days we can fish a particular lake?

No. You can fish any lake for as many days as you wish.  Providing you obey the Rules and Codes of Conduct.

You are NOT allowed to fish more than one lake at a time.

Are there any bait bans?

YES. Trout pellets & any other pellets containing a high oil content are banned, use carp pellets.

Fishing on the top with bread, is not permitted.

Particle baits are banned with the exception of sweet corn and hemp. 

NUTS OF ANY TYPE ARE BANNED!

PLASTIC & RUBBER BAITS ARE BANNED!

CAT MEAT IS BANNED!

Do you have a bait/tackle shop?

Yes we do. It contains a good selection of all baits and some items of tackle. Click here for more information.

We also stock worms.

It is open first thing after breakfast, 09.00 to 12.00 hours.

See Wanda or John, they will open the shop on request. (schedule permitting).

Are there any tackle bans?

YES. Barbed hooks are BANNED. A micro barbed hook is NOT a barbless hook! A barbed hook with the barb bent back is NOT a barbless hook!

YES. No keep nets. Keep nets can only be used on the ABC Lakes & JR's Lake (providing you have a carp friendly keep net and fish over 5 lb are not kept in keep nets).

Carp sacks are banned. Leave your carp sacks at home. If you are found with a carp sack on your swim, you could be asked to leave the complex.

Can I bivvy up around the lakes?

Yes. BUT  only if you are a resident and only in designated areas.

If we can see your bivvy from the accommodation or restaurant you are not in a designated area.

What is Clawford's policy on litter?

Litter bins are NOT provided around the lakes. This is done to prevent vermin infesting the banks.

All litter is to be brought back to the accommodation and disposed of. 

Clawford has a zero tolerance policy to litter. Any one who is found to have caused litter will be asked to leave the complex immediately.  This includes cigarette ends and matchsticks. There will be no restitution of fees whatsoever.

What is the meaning of Clawford's zero tolerance policy?

1.    If you are caught using barbed hooks.

2.    If you are found to be fishing more than one lake at a time.

3.    If you are caught with a carp sack in your swim.

4.    If you are caught using a Keep net on any other lake than JR's Lake or the ABC Lakes.

5.    Found to be causing litter.

6.    Seen to be using anti social behavior or foul language and causing distress to other anglers.

7.    If you are found to be using plastic baits.

8.    If you are found using Cat food as bait.

You will be asked to leave the complex immediately. 

There will be no restitution of fees whatsoever and the offenders will be black listed.

What is the policy on allowing children at Clawford?

We do not normally allow Children at Clawford. There are no facilities here for them. A minimum age of 18 is normally required.

If the child is well behaved & quiet, we may relax the rule. (12 or over)

We do not allow children in the Bar, as the bar is not licensed for children.

At 21.00 hours all minors must leave the visitors center.

Children are not allowed in the games room.

Do you accept all Male and Female parties at Clawford?

By special arrangement only.

All male and Female parties over the age of 25 will only be allowed at the discretion of the Clawford management, whose decision is final.

Please note, we only accept up to 6 males in one party.

How and when can I pay for my holiday?

A 25% deposit (cheque) is required within Seven days after making a telephone or internet booking.

Your cheque MUST be accompanied with a booking form. If you don't fill in a booking form you will NOT have a reservation!!

For Self Catering bookings the balance of the payment is required at least 6 weeks before the start of your holiday, together with a separate £100 security bond cheque.

For Bed & Breakfast bookings the balance of the full payment is required at least four weeks before the start of your holiday.

Any holidays booked within the final full payment period must be paid in full by cheque or Cash.

Please Note. If receipts are required for the deposit, a SAE is required. 

We do not send out receipts of the final full payment.

Can i change a the date of a holiday i have already paid for?

We require at least two months notice.

Last minute changes will leave Clawford with an un-occupied room and lost income. Please make sure this event is covered on your holiday insurance. Please give us some time to re-let the room.

To change a booking, an administration charge of £15 pounds is required.

Do i need to take out personal holiday insurance?

We strongly advise you to take out your own personal holiday cancellation insurance to cover cancellations for whatever reasons.

We strongly advise you to take out your own personal holiday insurance for the loss, theft or damage to your luggage, loss or theft of monies, personal accident, personal liability, medical expenses and break down cover of the policy holders vehicle.

Can I bring a refrigerator or any other household appliances into the B&B rooms.

Do NOT bring refrigerators, cooking appliances, or any other items of household equipment into the B&B rooms.
