2008 Clawford Fishing Festivals.

2008 Clawford Autumn Classic.

The 2008 'Clawford Autumn Classic' took place between September 13th. to September 20th. 

The Second 'Clawford Autumn Classic' was well supported by 32 Match Fishermen.

 

The overall winner was Gary Kinder from Yorkshire, who had 18 section points out of a possible 20.

 

Each day the anglers split into 4 sections, and all fished each lake once through the four days of the competition. 

Each section winner was given 5 points, the runner up 4, the third 3 points and so on.

 

The overall runner up was Andy Quarmby who had 17 section points and overall weight an impressive 501lb 13oz.

3rd place overall went to Danny Clarke also with 17 section points but his weight was less at 492lb 10oz. The fishing was very competitive and close right up to the end.

 

Prizes were as follows:

 

1st     £400 + Rosebowl + Weeks Holiday in a Duplex Self Catering Unit.

2nd    £300 + Rosebowl

3rd.    £200 + Rosebowl

4th    Carbon fishing rod donated by 'Preston Innovations'. (worth over £200).

5th    Ground baits donated by Bait Tech/Van den Eynde (worth over £100).

£50 for heaviest fish to Alan Price for 14lb Carp

£50 for heaviest bag to Danny Clarke for 200lb plus catch from Clawford Lake.

 

Throughout the competition an optional pool was run of £10 per anglern per day. Everybody entered which paid each section winner £35 and each section runner up £15.

This resulted in 15 anglers picking up pools money in addition to the main prizes.

Each angler had an input into the format & prize money allocation before the start of the 2008 festival.

 

As a result, the format of the 2009 'Clawford Autumn Classic' will be :-

1.    Each Angler will pay £80 to enter the festival.

2.    For each angler taking part in the festival, Clawford will donate £40.

 

The 2009 prizes will be as the 2008 prizes payout.

So based on 50 anglers taking part, prize money of £6,000 will be available.

A rover match was held on JR's Lake on the Wednesday, organised by the Clawford Bailiff Aaeron.

Clawford Spring Classic.

The first 'Clawford Spring Classic' took place over Easter in March.

The Bridgend based, Alan Rowe, recorded back-to-back wins at the first two Clawford festivals taking the silverware in the Spring Classic to add to his victory in the 2007 autumn event.

 

    

Alan scored a creditable six-point 177-2-0 total, which included silver fish nets to 39lb to pole-fished caster from Wanda’s Lake and carp nets of 66-0-0 to feeder fished corn from JR’s Lake.
