Clawford Nature Watch.
The wild flowers we sowed last year are giving us a real display especially the 'Birds Foot Teffoil'. It has covered the bank behind Fletchers Lake and is particularly prevalent around the wetlands area we completed last year. There are 100's of butterflies in this little sun trap in the Nature Conservation area at the end of Clawford Lake. Yesterday we spotted a Deer with her newly bourn foal in the long grass. Amongst the Butterflies spotted were Hedge Browns, Brown Hairstreak, Gate Keepers and Graylings. The new meadow area to the front of Clawford behind Edwards Lake a lot of Meadow Browns and Ringlets are evident. The Honeysuckle is in full bloom outside the bar and is filling the air with it's sweet scent. Kestrels and Sparrow Haws have been seen in front of the Ancient woods behind JR's Lake. Dozens of Swallows and Swifts can be seen throughout the day catching insects to feed their nest full of chicks. 2008 is a good year for Swallows, House Martins and Swifts.
